LAND ALTERATION
Land Alterations: Filling, grading, or excavating, on shore land property requires a land alteration permit if the activity that you are planning exceeds certain limits.
Construction of 2 retaining walls, Lakeshore riprap, and removal of 3/4"rock and restoring vegetation on the hillside south of the house.

A compact tractor will be used to aid removal of the 3/4"rock and to excavate the trenches for the retaining wall bases. All 18 cubic yards of excavation are for the retaining wall trenching. No excavation by hand or mechanical means is proposed for the lakeshore. The gravel and sand excavated will be added to the driveway to supplement the existing gravel.
EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES
Indicate the following erosion control measures that will be used (before, during and after) as part of your project.
Silt fencing will be placed on the hillside near the Lakeshore, but above the riprap and existing shoreline vegetation while the hillside rock is removed and left in place until enough vegetation is regrown. After the rock is removed the hillside will be seeded with a mix of native wildflowers and grasses. The planting plan also includes several bushes and native trees on the hillside as well as in other areas of the shore impact zone. Additional, more detailed information on the retaining wall construction and the DNR approval of the riprap construction is included in the attachments.
