LAND ALTERATION
Land Alterations: Filling, grading, or excavating, on shore land property requires a land alteration permit if the activity that you are planning exceeds certain limits.
1) Replace a failing cement block retaining wall that runs along the house with a boulder rip-rap retaining wall and add a brick patio between the wall and the house.
2) Place concrete chiseled-faced steps from just above the OWHL to yard level. The steps will total forty-six inches in height. Each step is 48" wide, by 18" deep by 5.75" high. Much of the area the steps will cover is bare, and the vegetation growing there currently is mostly comprised of canary reed grass and thistles.

EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES
Indicate the following erosion control measures that will be used (before, during and after) as part of your project.
Given the size and nature of this project I expect it to be completed in a few days, with the step project complete in one. While we will certainly install them if necessary, the contractor wasn't certain that they would be needed. I've included them in the plan, but if you feel they are unnecessary please let me know. In addition to the silt fence sand bags will be used to divert the water to the side of the step project. Once plantings around the steps are able to hold the soil in place the sand bags will be removed. Tarps will be used to cover the retaining wall project in the event of rain. Native plants, from Prairie Restorations, will be planted around the steps and around and amongst the boulders in the retaining wall and mulch used as necessary. Future projects include the creation of at least one rain garden, expansion of the riparian zone.
