LAND ALTERATION


Land Alterations: Filling, grading, or excavating, on shore land property requires a land alteration permit if the activity that you are planning exceeds certain limits.
 
Field is required.Current shoreline is rip rapped. We will be adding a boat lift for our 30ft pontoon in the Spring. Due to size of the lift we are requesting to make a 30ft wide cut down to high water line to enable putting the lift and dock in and for taking out for winter. We would rip rap the sides of the cut down to the high water line. In addition we plan to remove our very old dock base as it is in very poor shape with rotting wood. The wooden supports that were out in water are already gone and we have been using metal poles to support so there should be no work required in the water to remove. This cut into grade will require removal of a couple of dying balsam trees on the one side and low growing shrubs/vegetation where the cut would be made down to high water level.

Field is required.We will use Silt Fencing during time of making cut - then once complete we will seed and mulch for grass to grow back. Also plan to add rip rap to tie into current rip rap to protect the bank where it is cut from erosion. Need to understand if we need to get DNR permit too due to adjusting our rip rap to support this land alteration request. Some of the rip rap is below high water mark (into water slightly).
